Regional NSW attractions on this page include the Big Banana Fun Park in Coffs Harbour, Tropical Fruit World in the Tweed Valley and the Temora Aviation Museum's Spitfire simulator. They are all places you turn up to and spend a few hours or a full day, rather than guided tours. For tours and hands-on sessions around the state, see regional NSW tours and activities.
The Big Banana Fun Park at 351 Pacific Highway is a popular choice for families on the Coffs Harbour stretch of the coast. The Big Banana Fun Park Ultimate Pass gives you the day on the classic attractions: the Water Park, ice skating, mini golf, the 4D Ride Simulator, giant slide, laser tag, toboggan, bumper cars and a plantation tour. Collect your wristband from the main ticket booth. The park has its own session times for each attraction, so check the schedule when you arrive.
The same park has two extras you book separately. Axe throwing at the Big Banana is a 1-hour session on lanes with a digital target system, with up to four people on each lane and velcro toy axes for younger throwers. The MindTrap Escape Rooms are a 60-minute game in rooms that take 2 to 6 players, with four themes including Prison Break and Temple of Doom.
Tropical Fruit World is a working plantation at 29 Duranbah Road, Duranbah, with more than 500 varieties of tropical fruit. You can taste, smell and touch rarer ones such as chocolate pudding fruit, the chewing gum tree and lemon meringue fruit.
Admission covers a guided plantation safari on a tractor train, a fruit tasting session and a wildlife boat cruise. The grounds also have an animal park with kangaroos, farm animals and koi, orchard walks, putt putt golf and a flying fox, so a visit usually takes a good part of the day.
The Temora Aviation Museum is at 1 Tom Moon Avenue, Temora, and the Temora Spitfire Flight Simulator Experience is the way to see it from the cockpit. You fly a Supermarine Spitfire MkXVI, an aircraft from the RAAF 100SQN Historic Flight collection, in a full-motion simulator, with a pre-flight briefing, instruction through the flight and a debrief afterwards.
It's a 1-hour session with start times at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm, and your ticket includes entry to the museum, so build in time to walk the displays before or after your slot.
Big Banana works best as one long day in Coffs Harbour, and you can add axe throwing or an escape room to your Ultimate Pass day. Tropical Fruit World is in the Tweed Valley and is listed as a Gold Coast experience, so it pairs with a Gold Coast trip better than a Coffs Harbour one. Temora is an inland town, so plan it as its own stop. More ideas for the Coffs Harbour area are on the Coffs Harbour attractions page.
Tropical Fruit World admission includes a guided plantation tractor tour, a fruit tasting, a wildlife boat cruise and the animal park.
The Temora Spitfire Flight Simulator Experience is a 1-hour session with start times at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Entry to the Temora Aviation Museum is included.
The Big Banana Fun Park Ultimate Pass covers the Water Park, ice skating, mini golf, 4D Ride Simulator, giant slide, laser tag, toboggan, bumper cars and a plantation tour.
Each MindTrap Escape Room at the Big Banana in Coffs Harbour takes between 2 and 6 players for a 60-minute game.
Pick a park, a plantation or a cockpit and make it the stop that sets your regional NSW attractions trip. All good days are waiting.
